Human Resources is at the core of achieving a stable foundation for Preservation Management Inc. (PMI) employees. HR professionals play a critical role in contributing to a safe and ethical work environment, as well as shaping the company’s culture and the direction and guidance given to employees. In this blog post, we explore human resources’ imperative role in achieving a stable foundation for employees in affordable housing communities.
Counsel: HR provides counsel on employee relations.
Company Values: HR promotes and models the company’s values of professionalism, accountability, and ethics at all levels of the organization.
Investigative Officers: HR addresses employee grievances, develops recommendations for resolution, and represents the organization at personnel-related hearings.
Recognition Initiatives: HR develops and promotes recognition initiatives that help improve employee morale and increase productivity. HR highlights employee birthdays, work anniversaries, and promotions every month on SharePoint. HR also conducts training courses such as New Hire Orientation, Benefit Refreshers, Recruitment, Interviewing Skills, Performance Reviews, Discrimination, and Sexual Harassment training, available to all employees. HR works with benefit providers to encourage health and wellness trainings offered to all employees. In 2024, HR initiated Self-Care Month, which offered employees free trainings on Self-Care Essentials, Aromatherapy, and Stress and the Mind. HR sent individuals who participated in each training an “Instantly Happier” To-Go Kit, an “I AM” inspirational deck of cards, and an Aromatherapy “Refresh and Rejuvenate” To-Go Kit.
Minimize Employee Turnover: Through analyzing data, performing employee satisfaction surveys, and exit interviews, HR publishes periodic reports and makes recommendations for improvements when necessary.
Personnel Policies & Procedures: HR protects the interest of employees and the company through an investigation of company policies and legal requirements. When direction and guidance is needed, HR offers inclusive articles on policies and procedures through the use of the company newsletter and intranet portals.
As we reflect on the essential role human resources play in achieving a stable foundation, it becomes clear that they are truly a pillar of strength for PMI. HR’s recognition initiatives promote and create a positive work environment, which produces a more stable foundation. Their tireless work to bridge the gaps and provide inclusive environments through open communication proves their true dedication and advocacy for employees.
